Kitzmiller Mayor & Town Council

Mayor Robert L. Reckart

Mayor Reckart has served the Town of Kitzmiller for many years. He was appointed to Town Council in March of 2000. Then appointed Mayor in November of 2013. Mayor Reckart resides in Kitzmiller with his wife of 34 years.

Mayor Reckart is currently serving his 2 year term of 2025 to 2027.

Councilmember G. Michael Brady

Councilmember Brady is currently serving his 2 year term of 2025-2027.

Councilman John Hawk

Councilmember Hawk is currently serving a 2 year term of 2024 - 2026.

Councilwoman Becky Lipscomb

Councilmember Lipscomb is currently serving a 2 year term of 2024 - 2026.

Councilmember Tim Barnhouse

Councilman Tim Barnhouse was elected to Town Council in April of 2025, and is currently serving his 2 year term until March of 2027.

Current Garrett County Mayors

Election Terms

Each councilmember and Mayor serves two consecutive years as a "Term." 

Scheduled Elections

There is an election scheduled annually, to be conducted on the second Tuesday of April. 

Even Years

In every even numbered year, two councilmember seats will be up for election.

Odd Years

In every odd numbered year, The Mayor seat and two councilmember seats will be up for election.

Stipulations

In order to run for mayor or town council, one must be registered to vote, be 18 years of age, and live in Town Limits.

Interested in becoming a town official?

Every year, those with intent for candidacy will have to file with the Kitzmiller Town Hall. 

Filing a certificate of Nomination must be done on or before the second Tuesday after the first Monday in March. Nominees shall agree in writing to the nomination prior to the filing of a certificate. No person shall file for nomination to more than one elective town public office or hold more than on elective town public office at any one time.
